Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

This week marks the 108th birthday of one Theodor Seuss Geisel. If that name doesn't mean much to you, perhaps "Dr. Seess" will ring a few more bells.

A prolific children’s author, Dr. Seuss may have written in a type of English that didn’t always make perfect sense, but his universal appeal is unmistakeable. His 46 children’s books have been loved by pretty much any child and adult who picked one up. This Friday, the good doctor would have turned 108. Alas, he passed away in 1991 after a battle with throat cancer after many years of poor

Dr. Seuss’s books are jam-packed with imaginative characters and playful rhyme – some of his most celebrated titles include best-sellers like Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Horton Hatches the Egg, Horton Hears a Who!, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas!.

Cupcake Creation

I've seen this several times and always want to try it. A cupcake made in an ice cream cone. Really not that hard at all. You can use any cupcake recipe you have and just bake the batter in the ice cream cone. I set the cones in a baking dish and baked for 30 min. They cooked just perfect. But the interesting thing about this - the cone got a bit mushy. Not what I would have thought after baking it!!! I used regular sized cones and mini ones as well.

I had a recipe for an icing that had Golden Graham cereal in it and used that. These creations were just okay....Looks much cuter than it really tasted I think.
But Trevor did enjoy his bite sized version!

Valentine's Day

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! This weekend I realized I hadn't made any Valentine's for fun so I got myself busy.

And here's what I came up with!!!

"I'm BUGGY for you"
"Bee Mine!!!"
I thought this was pretty cute from THIS website.
"You are TOAD-ALLY Awesome!!!"

I tried to make another frog from a heart and think I would have been okay had I not put the bow where it is - sort of looks like a funny nose! Oh well, it was too late by the time I realized it.
"Will you be my LOVE BUG?"
I found this idea here....

Have a great Valentine's Day everyone!
Happy Baking.

Spider - Ific Valentine's

I'm back and ready to get into cookies again!!

I got this idea from Sugarbelle. I thought it was a great one since Trevor has been working on a Spiderman poster for a few weeks now. And much cuter than the Valentine's I could get in the store. I decided to make my own to go with the cookie to give to his classmates. I only made one minor change from Sugarbelle's idea which I found here. I just can't get myself to use the markers they make for icing much. I don't like the look of it most times. So I went with the old fashioned way.

Since Trevor has been working on this coloring of Spiderman for several weeks now, I think we are in the superhero phase! And he LOVES his spiderman jammies he has and the "web" glove he uses.

I didn't find any cute Valentine's in the stores to buy so I made my own. I think this is definitely a market where money could be made.

And here is the Valentine Card I came up with to attach to the cookies..:) I made it easy for Trevor - I just scanned his signature so he wouldn't have to do it 28 times! That would have been more work for me than him to actually get him to do that - LOL

Happy Valentine's Day!

You are Toadily Awesome

For Valentine's Day, I have tons of frogs out! So for our company last night I decided to make some Valentine Frog Cupcakes!

I found the BEST recipe - Graham Cupcakes with Key Lime Cream Cheese Frosting found here. Both the cupcakes and the frosting were delicious and I TOADIALY recommend both of them. Once the cupcakes were made it was one to creating the froggies! Here's how they turned out!

I thought it would be a cute touch to put my Valentine saying on the plates with some Royal Icing! What do you think?
Ribbit Ribbit!! (I think that's the frog sound, right? LOL)
