HAPPY HALLOWEEN BAKING!
I had this for a dinner party last weekend and these are just about the best darn tasting things ever in my opinion!! Several others have said that too so I'm not the only one! They are creepy cookie cauldrons - because they are in the cauldron shape.
This is one of those recipes that are much harder to do than the pictures and directions make it look! I think cookbooks must make about 1000 of these to get a good picture of one or two!
Below is a picture from the cookbook of the Cookie Cauldrons.
I got my recipe from a Halloween cookbook that I bought at the grocery store but also found the same recipe online here to share with you. The difficult part is actually molding the sugar cookie into little cauldrons. Using miniature muffin pans you shape them ever so carefully. Place them in the oven and then have to keep taking them out to poke the centers in so there is still a place for the filing.
The filing for these was wonderful. Caramel and Then mix rice cereal in with that. Place in the center of your sugar cookies and top with toffee bits. I made a few deviations from the actual recipe - instead of melted caramels I took the easy way out by using caramel topping. I also used toffee bits instead of chocolate chips. Then place licorice pieces in the topping and shape like the handle of the cauldron. That last part was not easy either!! Finding long licorice pieces in itself was a chore!! Here is my finished product!
Not too bad looking!!!
I do believe I'm going to try to make this into a regular cookie and see what I come up with.
I have a few ideas in store of what to do so stay tuned!!
HAPPY BAKING
