Peanut Butter Pound Cake and Slow Cooker Honey Seasame Chicken

Spring has Sprung at our house! I had some friends over this weekend and the table is all set for Easter!

I have to brag on my dinner I made. And not just to brag but to SHARE. From start to finish it was amazing. And once I find a good recipe I have to share with people. I don't think you can ever have too many good recipes in your repertoire...:)

We had Slow Cooker Honey Sesame Chicken....amazing and easy. I found this HERE. A mild Chinese flavor...and if you aren't a fan of that, the chicken is still soft and good.I served it with plain rice and some snap peas. The sauce is amazing on the rice and no one even wanted to touch the soy sauce!
The most important part of the dinner was the dessert.

I found that here.

This is just about the best recipe I've ever tasted - if you happen to like peanut butter. And I LOVE peanut butter.

Both Pat and I liked it so much we had to immediately take it to a friends house so it would NOT be around us!!! LOL

A Peanut Butter Pound Cake with Peanut Butter Glaze. The ONLY deviation I made was to include peanut butter chips instead of chocolate chips.

I was worried about it not coming out of the cake pan and worried it wouldn't be done in the middle. Luckily it turned out just right. I cooked it for one hour and 20 minutes just like the recipe said....and this time trusted the recipe. Before turning the pan over I ran my knife all around the edge and the bottom of the pan. The pound cake came right out in one piece.

Success part one!

Then I put the peanut butter glaze on it with some peanut butter chips on top.

And when we all tasted it...heaven....and perfectly cooked! Success part two!

I served the dessert with ice cream which was a perfect compliment.
Anyone you have over would love this meal. I know I'm going to keep them handy for a long time!

Happy Baking.

Pretty Peacocks and Rainbows

Here are 2 things that might make you smile!
I got a new cookie cutter and wanted to try out my rainbow! I have to say making the different colors is not really easy and takes a much steadier hand than I have.
I'm going to have to work on that one!
For a peacock themed birthday party.....trying my hand with this new cookie cutter.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

This week marks the 108th birthday of one Theodor Seuss Geisel. If that name doesn't mean much to you, perhaps "Dr. Seess" will ring a few more bells.

A prolific children’s author, Dr. Seuss may have written in a type of English that didn’t always make perfect sense, but his universal appeal is unmistakeable. His 46 children’s books have been loved by pretty much any child and adult who picked one up. This Friday, the good doctor would have turned 108. Alas, he passed away in 1991 after a battle with throat cancer after many years of poor

Dr. Seuss’s books are jam-packed with imaginative characters and playful rhyme – some of his most celebrated titles include best-sellers like Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Horton Hatches the Egg, Horton Hears a Who!, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas!.

I wanted to make some cookies to send home with Trevor's classmates in honor of the Dr. Seuss!

Cupcake Creation

I've seen this several times and always want to try it. A cupcake made in an ice cream cone. Really not that hard at all. You can use any cupcake recipe you have and just bake the batter in the ice cream cone. I set the cones in a baking dish and baked for 30 min. They cooked just perfect. But the interesting thing about this - the cone got a bit mushy. Not what I would have thought after baking it!!! I used regular sized cones and mini ones as well.

I had a recipe for an icing that had Golden Graham cereal in it and used that. These creations were just okay....Looks much cuter than it really tasted I think.
But Trevor did enjoy his bite sized version!

Valentine's Day

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! This weekend I realized I hadn't made any Valentine's for fun so I got myself busy.

And here's what I came up with!!!

"I'm BUGGY for you"
"Bee Mine!!!"
I thought this was pretty cute from THIS website.
"You are TOAD-ALLY Awesome!!!"

I tried to make another frog from a heart and think I would have been okay had I not put the bow where it is - sort of looks like a funny nose! Oh well, it was too late by the time I realized it.
"Will you be my LOVE BUG?"
I found this idea here....

Have a great Valentine's Day everyone!
Happy Baking.

Spider - Ific Valentine's

I'm back and ready to get into cookies again!!

I got this idea from Sugarbelle. I thought it was a great one since Trevor has been working on a Spiderman poster for a few weeks now. And much cuter than the Valentine's I could get in the store. I decided to make my own to go with the cookie to give to his classmates. I only made one minor change from Sugarbelle's idea which I found here. I just can't get myself to use the markers they make for icing much. I don't like the look of it most times. So I went with the old fashioned way.

Since Trevor has been working on this coloring of Spiderman for several weeks now, I think we are in the superhero phase! And he LOVES his spiderman jammies he has and the "web" glove he uses.

I didn't find any cute Valentine's in the stores to buy so I made my own. I think this is definitely a market where money could be made.

And here is the Valentine Card I came up with to attach to the cookies..:) I made it easy for Trevor - I just scanned his signature so he wouldn't have to do it 28 times! That would have been more work for me than him to actually get him to do that - LOL

Happy Valentine's Day!

You are Toadily Awesome

For Valentine's Day, I have tons of frogs out! So for our company last night I decided to make some Valentine Frog Cupcakes!

I found the BEST recipe - Graham Cupcakes with Key Lime Cream Cheese Frosting found here. Both the cupcakes and the frosting were delicious and I TOADIALY recommend both of them. Once the cupcakes were made it was one to creating the froggies! Here's how they turned out!

I thought it would be a cute touch to put my Valentine saying on the plates with some Royal Icing! What do you think?
Ribbit Ribbit!! (I think that's the frog sound, right? LOL)
